While HRLostpets.org cannot promise that your pet will be found, reporting it can increase the chances of your pet being returned to you.
Many lost pets are found by caring, compassionate people throughout Hampton Roads every day.
If you have found a lost or stray pet, Virginia Law requires you to report this animal to the municipal animal control agency of the city in which the animal was found.
Some agencies take these reports and keep them in their records while others do not, but this does not relieve you of the responsibility of making an effort to report an animal that you have found.
There could be someone looking for the pet you have found and despite the fact it got away from them, you have a legal and a moral obligation to give a pet owner the chance to recover their animal.
Don't forget, you now have the ability to search the lost and found reports that have been sent to us!
